Reiki is taught in three levels: Reiki I, Reiki II, and Reiki III or the Reiki Master Level.
Reiki I -- introduces the basics of how the practice works, its origins, how it is used, and what it is used for. It covers a brief overview of energetic and spiritual healing. During Reiki I the first of the sacred Reiki symbols will be introduced. Students will receive four Reiki attunements during the Reiki I training. Students will learn the basic Reiki hand positions which are the foundation for a Reiki session. After completing Reiki I, students will have sufficient training to work on family, friends and pets, as well as themselves. Reiki I and Reiki II are each taught during separate weekend workshops.
Reiki II -- deepens the student's experience with subtle energy. Two additional sacred Reiki symbols are introduced. Techniques for obtaining information and guidance using the distance symbol will be learned. Students will learn and experience the practice of doing Reiki at a distance. More advanced hand positions using the symbol for accessing subconscious mind are taught During Reiki II. Students will receive two, longer attunements during the course of the training. Upon completing Reiki II training students will be Certified Reiki Practitioners. They will be able to offer their healing services to the public and charge for their work. Generally Reiki II follows Reiki I after a minimum of a six month integration period.
Reiki III -- is the Reiki Master Level. It is learned in the form of an apprenticeship with a Certified Reiki Master Teacher. The training can take from one to two years depending upon prior practice of Reiki and how much time is spent. At the beginning of the apprenticeship the student must go through a preparatory process of cleansing the body and energy system. During Reiki III the student will deepen their understanding of spiritual and energetic healing. Additional practices will be taught as well as further refinement of the work that has already been learned. Students will learn how to transmit formal Reiki attunements for all three levels of Reiki. The practicalities of setting up and conducting a Reiki class will be covered as well as an overview of professional practices. The student will receive two Reiki Master Attunements. As part of the apprenticeship, students will assist the Reiki Master Teacher in conducting at least one Reiki I class and one Reiki II class. The fourth and final sacred Reiki symbol, the Reiki Master Symbol will be taught. Upon completion of the apprenticeship students will be Certified Reiki Master Teachers.*
*At this time it seems appropriate to separate the level III teaching into two categories: Certified Reiki Master and Certified Reiki Master Teacher. The art and the challenge of teaching is to continue to present information with integrity while adjusting the teaching so that it is current and relevant with the times. As more people become interested in learning Reiki and energy healing practices in depth, many are clear that they do not have the desire to teach. In response to students requests we will be teaching Level III Reiki Master with two different emphasis in the future, one on advanced practice and one on advanced practice for teaching.
